It Isn't Easy to Stop Smoking but with Help it Gets Easier

Everyone who smokes knows that it is not easy to stop smoking. This is why so many men and women struggle with quitting smoking and even more people are unsuccessful in their efforts to quit smoking. Even with all of the health facts regarding smoking, such as it causes cancer, is harmful for unborn babies and causes breathing difficulties and so on, people who smoke still face difficulties in quitting.

Unfortunately, there is no easy, quick fix solution to this problem. Regardless of what kind of treatment that you choose to use, you are still going to have to deny yourself something that you want in an effort to quit smoking.

There are many methods that people use to try to stop smoking. One of the most common first tries for stopping smoking is to quit cold turkey. Unfortunately, this is also one of the least successful methods for stopping smoking and it is a far cry from being easy to stop smoking using this method.

Without something else to take the place of the smoking (such as chewing gum, or finding another, healthier habit) stopping cold turkey is rarely effective. Most people who "quit" by simply stopping usually find that they are smoking again, sometimes in a couple of weeks and sometimes it takes a few months, but unfortunately this is how it works.

Another method that might might make it easy to stop smoking compared to quitting cold turkey is by using medications, to stop smoking. There are prescription medications that a doctor can give you to assist you in the stop smoking process, but you have to be aware of the side effects associated with this method, which can include nausea and emotional outbursts and changes. However, this method works for many people who are diligent in taking it regardless of the side effects.

Nearly everyone who has tried to stop smoking have heard of nicotine patches and nicotine gum. Both of these methods work on the same premise, which is to release small levels of nicotine into the system to help eliminate the urge to smoke and to fulfill the bodies need for a cigarette. The downside to using these methods is that if you are on medication using these methods can interfere with the medication that you take.

In addition, if you smoke while using either type of product, you can create serious health issues as well. For people who smoke as part of an oral need rather than a simple nicotine addiction, these methods may not make it easy to stop smoking at all.

Many people will turn to hypnosis to stop smoking. There are pros and cons to this method, as there are to any other methods. The upside here is that there are no side effects if you use this method, hypnosis will not interfere with your medications or cause health issues.

However, hypnosis does not work on everyone, so you need to keep that in mind when you spend $160 or more on a session. Not to say you can't be hypnotised, only that each person has a different success rate with this method.

Regardless of how you choose to stop smoking, good for you, you are taking a positive step towards a healthier you. While it may not be easy to stop smoking, you may find that one of these methods makes it easier than going it alone, which may be just what you need to have great success.
